DEPARTMENT HISTORY


PROFILE OF DEPARTMENT OF BIOTECHNOLOGY


In the present knowledge  driven economy,  as there is a constant need for innovative young professionals in the areas of Biopharmaceutics, Bio-IT services including Bioinformatics, Agri Biotech and Bioprocess industries, Sir C R Reddy College for Women, established the department of Biotechnology in the year 2002.

.

At the time of inception, the BBC (Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemistry) combination with 2 sections was sanctioned.


Since then the department has steadily grown and achieved  several milestones.


With the intention of including basic sciences along with applied science, BZBT course was introduced in the year 2020.Currently the department is running with 3 qualified, Knowledgeable and experienced faculty members.


The Faculty members of Biotechnology  Department have completed  various courses in online mode offered by NPTEL in SWAYAM.


All the  members of the  Department are having   membership in ISERS.


The faculty members published articles in International   Research Journal and also presented papers in    National & International seminars organized by various

colleges in association with IMRF.


Highlights of the Department of Biotechnology



The Department has achieved 100% every year.


The Department offered various  courses such as

Food & Nutrition (Value added course), Instrumentations & their applications(Skill enhancement course) and Science of stem cells(Add on course) .


The Department completed various Community Service Projects and Internship programmes in association with various companies.


All Faculty members use ICT based Teaching- Learning procedures   in their teaching pattern. 


The Department is having a well equipped lab accommodating 25 students at a time.


The Department has MOUs with various Institutions for the benefit of the students. 

 

A number of Field visits and Industrial visits have been arranged every year since inception.
